How LittleLink ID calling works and why contacts should save the number

LittleLink ID uses a masked calling system for calls made through the public profile. This helps protect private phone numbers while still allowing important calls to be made when needed.

Because the call comes through a LittleLink ID service number, we recommend encouraging parents and emergency contacts to save that number in their phone. 020 4634 7454

Why saving the number helps
If parents or emergency contacts save the LittleLink ID calling number, they are more likely to recognise the call and answer it quickly.

This can be especially helpful in situations where:
  • they do not recognise unknown numbers
  • they might otherwise ignore the call
  • a call needs to be answered promptly

How masked calling works
When someone uses the Call button through the public profile:
  1. the call is routed through the LittleLink ID calling service
  2. the caller does not see the emergency contact’s private number
  3. the emergency contact does not see the private number of the caller
  4. both sides see the LittleLink ID service number instead

This means the call is protected on both sides.

Why this is used
Masked calling helps:
  • protect private contact details
  • support emergency access
  • keep calling safer and more privacy-conscious

Encouraging contacts to save the number
It is a good idea to let parents and emergency contacts know that calls may come through the LittleLink ID calling number rather than directly from a personal mobile number.

Encouraging them to save it in their phone can make those calls easier to recognise.

Good to know
The LittleLink ID calling number is part of the protected calling setup. It is not intended to replace the childminder’s own personal phone number for normal day-to-day contact.
