How to approve, ask for changes, or decline

Once you have reviewed a child’s details in LittleLink ID, you will be able to choose one of three actions:
  • Approve
  • Ask for changes
  • Decline.

Approve
If you choose Approve, the child’s details become active in the system. This means the childminder can continue using the child’s record as normal.

Ask for changes
If you choose Ask for changes, the childminder is told that something needs updating. They can then review the child’s details, make the requested changes, and submit the record again for review.

Decline
If you choose Decline on a new child request, the child is removed from the childminder’s account.

If the request is for updated details on an already approved child, the safest explanation is that the previously approved version remains in place and the declined update is not applied.

Choosing the right option
A helpful way to think about the three options is:
  • Approve if the information is correct
  • Ask for changes if something needs updating
  • Decline if the request should not go ahead.

Good to know
If you are not sure whether to decline or ask for changes, Ask for changes is usually the better option when the information only needs correcting rather than fully refusing.
