A simple overview of how LittleLink ID helps childminders store key emergency information, manage child records, and share essential details safely through a GDPR-conscious public profile.
LittleLink ID is an online safeguarding platform for childminders in the UK. It is designed to store and display important information that may be needed in an emergency, while keeping children’s data private and limited to what is necessary.
- Childminder
- Approver
How LittleLink ID works
As a childminder, you create your account, complete onboarding, and submit your card details. Once your onboarding has been reviewed, you can begin adding children to your setting.

For each child, you can add important details such as:
When a child is added, their approver is invited to review the details. The approver can approve the details, ask for changes, or decline the request. Once approved, the child becomes active in the system.

After signup, you also submit the details for your card, including the card holder’s name and photo. Your card is then prepared and linked to your account. Once it arrives, it needs to be activated before you can check children in.

The card includes a QR code and NFC chip. When someone scans or taps the card, they are taken to your public profile.
The public profile
The public profile is designed to show only essential emergency information in a privacy-conscious way. When a child is checked in, the public profile can display:
- the child’s initials instead of their full name
- an age band instead of full date of birth
- a blurred child photo, if a photo has been added
- allergies or important information
- emergency contacts with protected calling.

LittleLink ID uses a masked calling system, which means private phone numbers are not shown when emergency contacts are called through the public profile.
Daily use
Once your card is active and a child has been approved, you can check children in and out through the dashboard or the Children page. Checked-in children will appear on the public profile with only the limited details needed for safeguarding and emergency support.
The system also supports temporary drop-off, pickup, moving children between cards, and auto-checkout if children are not checked out manually by the end of the day.
In summary LittleLink ID helps childminders:
