How temporary drop-off and pickup work

LittleLink ID includes a temporary drop-off and pickup flow for times when a child leaves your care for a short period and then returns later the same day.
This is different from a full checkout. A full checkout is used when the child has finished for the day, while temporary drop-off and pickup are for short handovers where the child is expected back.

- a child leaves your care for a short time
- the child is expected to return later
- you do not want to treat the handover as their final checkout for the day.
How to temporarily drop a child off
To temporarily drop a child off:
- Go to the dashboard page
- Find the child
- Click the 3 dot on top right
- Select the Drop Off option

Once this is done, the child is no longer treated as actively in your care in the same way as a checked-in child.
How pickup works
When the child returns, go back to the dashboard or Children page and use the Pickup option for that child.

This marks the child as back in your care again so their record can continue as normal for the rest of the day.
How this is different from checkout
Temporary drop-off and pickup are not the same as a full checkout.
If the child is not returning, you should use Check Out instead.
