Child is still awaiting review

When you add a child in LittleLink ID, the child does not become fully active straight away. The assigned approver needs to review the child’s details first. Until that happens, the child will remain awaiting review and may appear faded out in the Children area.

This is expected behaviour until the review has been completed.

Why a child may still be awaiting review
The most common reasons are:
  • the approver has not opened their email yet
  • the approver email address was entered incorrectl
  • the approver’s password setup link has expired
  • the approver has opened the request but has not completed the review
  • the approver asked for changes and the updated details have not yet been resubmitted.

What to check first
Start by confirming that the correct approver has been added to the child’s profile. Each child should have one approver, and their email address is required.

Then check:
  • whether the approver has received their email
  • whether they have checked junk or spam
  • whether they have already set up their account
  • whether the email address entered is correct.

If the approver is new to LittleLink ID
If this is the approver’s first time using LittleLink ID, they need to set up their account before they can complete the review. Their password setup link is only valid for 72 hours.

If that link has expired, they will need a new one before they can continue. Use this following guide to do that.

What happens when the approver takes action
Once the approver opens the child review, they can choose to:
  • approve
  • ask for changes
  • decline

If they approve the details, the child becomes active in the system.

If they ask for changes, the childminder will need to update and resubmit the information.

If they decline the request, the child is removed from the account.

If changes were requested
If the approver has asked for changes, the child will not become active until those changes have been made and submitted again for review. Check the child’s details carefully, update the information, and resubmit it so the approver can review the new version.

If the approver email was wrong
If you entered the wrong email address for the approver, update it in Approvers & Contacts or in the child’s contact details, then resend the request to the correct email address.
Good to know
While a child is awaiting review:
  • they may appear faded out in the Children area
  • they are not yet fully active
  • some actions may not be available until approval is complete.

If the issue is actually that the approver never received the email, use the separate troubleshooting guide:
My approver didn’t receive their email.
