I can’t check a child in

To check a child in with LittleLink ID, two main things need to be in place:
  • the child must already be approved
  • your account must have at least one active card.

If either of these is missing, check-in will not be available.

What to check first
If you cannot check a child in, start by checking:
  • whether the child is still awaiting review
  • whether your card has been activated
  • whether the child is already checked in
  • whether there is a medication reminder waiting for confirmation.

Check whether the child has been approved
A child cannot be checked in until the approver has reviewed and approved their details. If the child is still awaiting review, they may appear faded out in the Children area and check-in will not yet be available.
If this is the issue, use the separate troubleshooting guide

Check whether your card is active
Check-in also requires at least one active card on your account. Go to Manage Cards and confirm that your card is showing as active and not faded out. If it is still inactive, you will need to activate it first using the code that came with the card.

If this is the issue, use the separate troubleshooting guide:
My card is not activated.

Check whether the child is already checked in
If the child has already been checked in, you may not see the normal check-in option again. Instead, check the dashboard or Children page to see whether the child is already marked as checked in.

Where you can check a child in
You can check children in from:
  • the dashboard
  • the Children page.

If you are in the wrong section of the platform, the option may not be visible.

Good to know
Once a child is checked in:
  • they appear on the public profile linked to the active card
  • only limited emergency information is shown
  • they stay visible until they are checked out or auto-checkout removes them later.

If the child can be checked in but there is a problem at collection time instead, that is a separate issue from check-in.
